Visited September 2011 - Delicious, seasonal and large portions - definitely will return

The only reason we decided to give the Barn a try was because we had received a discount voucher off the meal through the Gourmet Society but we were not disappointed.

On arrival we were slightly concerned because next door is a boarded up pub, which doesn't leave a great first impression, but glad we overlooked this.

Friendly service and unpretentious. We had a delicious amuse bouche of carrot soup with a ginger kick and tasty fresh bread. For our main we both went for the assiette of game - quail, pheasant and rabbit which was served with new potatoes and cranberry. My partners rabbit was a little on the bloody side and could have done with being cooked a little bit longer but mine was perfect. All in all though very tasty and we polished off our plates. For desert the only criticism I would make is that nearly every one was with alcohol and as I was pregnant at the time I opted for cheesecake even though I'm not normally a fan. Having said that the desert was so tasty and unlike any other cheesecake I've tasted before. My partner went for a brownie desert and it also did not disappoint.

All in all a fantastic, well cooked meal, quality ingredients and a gem of a restaurant in a not particularly idyllic location.

Another reviewer commented on the speed of food and whilst the food might not come out to you in the quickest of time I think this only seeks to highlight the quality and superb presentation. After all, when you go for 'fast food' it's called that for a reason and lets face it, quality isn't high on the priorities for that kind of food.

Visited July 2011 - Fantastic Tapas Style menu

My husband and I ate at the Barn for a celebration meal on Friday- what a lovely night! The Tapas style menu went down a treat- it gave us the opportunity to try a lot of the menu and we were utterly stuffed and impressed!
The staff were really friendly and so welcoming, could not do enough for us, which was lovely! The atmosphere is great and and decor is sophisticated and elegant!
We will be back without a doubt and will be spreading the word with our friends of what a great restaurant this is.

Visited May 2011 Excellent meal !!”

Went here a week ago to celebrate my 50th birthday with family. Had a fantastic meal !! Most of us went for the fixed three course meal whilst my wife just had two courses.

The food was fantastic, well presented and superbly seasoned - for the first time ever I added absolutely nothing !!!

It's good to know there's a really good restaurant in/near Gillingham where you can go for treats or special occasions.
